You probably already know this, but behind every great speech is not only a presenter — but a writer sitting somewhere at their desk offstage. As Director of Brand at Bluecore, I wrote complete scripts, supporting slide decks, and titles for executive presentations at the Women in Retail and Shoptalk conferences, as well as speeches in smaller venues among more intimate groups.
The process can be a lot of fun, as it's a real exercise into understanding the nuances of someone's personal speaking patterns — including the phrases they tend to be comfortable with — and adapting their individual strengths and onstage energy to the ebb and flow of the content.
